For Men
Getting the right fit is key to looking sharp and feeling comfortable in a leather jacket. Use this guide to take accurate body measurements.
What You’ll Need:
-
A soft measuring tape
-
A mirror or someone to assist
-
A notepad or phone to record sizes
1. Chest
-
How to Measure: Wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your chest, usually right under your armpits and across your shoulder blades.
-
Tip: Keep arms relaxed at your sides and breathe normally for the best fit.
-
Used For: Choosing the correct chest size of the jacket.
2. Shoulders
-
How to Measure: Measure from one shoulder bone across the back to the other shoulder bone.
-
Tip: Stand straight and relaxed. This helps determine how broad the jacket should be at the top.
3. Sleeve Length
-
How to Measure: Start from the top of your shoulder, run the tape along the outside of your arm, and end at the wrist.
-
Tip: Slightly bend your arm during measurement to mimic a natural position.
4. Jacket Length (Back Length)
-
How to Measure: Measure from the base of the neck down to the point where you want the jacket to end (usually at the waist or just below the hip).
-
Tip: This helps in determining if you want a cropped, regular, or long jacket fit.
5. Waist
-
How to Measure: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist (usually above your belly button and below your ribs).
-
Tip: Useful if the jacket has a tailored waist or adjustable fit.
6. Biceps (Optional for Fitted Styles)
-
How to Measure: Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your upper arm.
-
Tip: Especially helpful if you prefer a slim-fit or biker-style jacket.
Sizing Tip
-
Always check the brand’s size chart after taking your measurements.
-
If you're between sizes, choose the larger one for comfort or better layering.
-
Leather tends to stretch a bit over time but should not feel too tight initially.
